Shipping & Receiving Associate

Summary

Under the direction of the Material Manager, the Shipping/Receiving Associate packs and prepares customer orders for shipping, receives material and equipment, loads and unloads trucks according to established procedures. The Shipping/Receiving Associate responsibilities also include picking up and delivering materials for outside processes, inspecting electrical, mechanical and completes a visual inspection of piece parts, and sub-assemblies on newly received parts inspecting various purchase components and materials for compliance. Provides backup support for the Materials Supervisor on scheduling trucks and other Shipping/Receiving duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Load/Unload trucks using forklifts or pallet jacks
  • Inspect/pack shipments before loading for proper packing
  • Evaluate shipments for damage
  • Receive components in the ERP system
  • Move components to proper areas of the building using forklifts, pallet jacks or hand carts
  • Dispose of unneeded packaging materials
  • Call carriers to arrange for pick up and deliveries as requested
  • Keep the shipping area clean and free of debris
  • Deliver/pick up components from vendors using company vehicles
  • Perform inspection on first piece, purchase parts and finished pieces.
  • Review and understand instructions, blueprints, work orders, and routing sheets to determine specification requirements.
  • Measure, record test data and prepare inspection reports as required.
  • Set up gages used in inspection and/or tests. Calibrate and maintain gaging devices.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma required; equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Associated degree preferred
  • Valid Wisconsin Drivers license
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in shipping/receiving
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience read and understand CAD drawings
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using inspection pins and gauges
