Flexible Bakery Automation Built for Real-World Production
Midwest Engineered Systems (MWES) will debut the BakerMateTM —a collaborative robot platform designed specifically for the baking industry— at The International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE), taking place September 14–17, 2025 in Las Vegas.
Responding to the needs of retail, commercial, and wholesale bakers aiming to improve production effectiveness, MWES developed a flexible cobot system that’s easily reconfigurable to perform a wide range of bakery operations. With a user-friendly interface and fast, tool-less changeovers, the BakerMate can take on multiple high-labor tasks, including:
- Rack Loading & Unloading
- Depanning Delicate Products
- Decorating and Finishing
- Packaging
- Palletizing
“We heard from bakers that they needed a solution with better hygienic design than what’s currently available—without sacrificing versatility or ease of use,” said Chuck Sena, Food Systems Business Manager at MWES. “The BakerMate addresses both.”
Built on a welded stainless steel, open-frame design, the BakerMate cobot platform is engineered for easy cleaning and sanitation. The system’s interchangeable end-of-arm tools make it quick to switch between applications, while a recipe-driven interface allows operators to change SKUs with minimal downtime.

MWES will be demonstrating the BakerMate performing rack loading in Booth 1447, West Hall, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
