The Challenge
Meeting Rising Demand Without OEM Support or Manual Process Limitations
The customer needed to increase cubing line throughput beyond legacy OEM machine capabilities. Key requirements included:
- Delivering cube sizes between 0.625″ and 1.5″ for varied product lines
- Overcoming inability to source replacement processing machines from the previous OEM
- Enhancing machine uptime and reducing wear over time
- Meeting USDA, WDA and NEC standards for food safety and electrical compliance
MWES was selected to engineer new cubing machines with enhanced uptime, sanitization, and flexibility.
The Solution
Custom Food-Safe Cubing Machines With Modern Controls and Uptime Enhancements
MWES delivered several turnkey cheese cubing machines built to USDA/WDA food safety standards and designed for continuous uptime and ease of use:
- Food-grade construction for all surfaces in contact with product
- Full electrical design compliant with NEC and WDA requirements
- PLC-controlled logic and HMI interfaces with operator-adjustable belt speeds
- Horizontal and vertical slicing blades to produce consistent cubes from incoming slabs
Design improvements were based on lessons learned from the customer’s legacy system—yielding upgraded reliability and minimized machine wear.
The Results
Improved Uptime, Higher Output & Future Expansion Capability
The MWES-built machines delivered measurable benefits:
- Restored and expanded cubing capacity beyond original machine limitations
- Enhanced machine reliability and reduced maintenance downtime
- Food-safe design compliant with regulatory expectations
- Simplified controls and greater flexibility for future cube-size configurations
By engineering new cubing equipment tailored to the customer’s needs, MWES enabled sustained throughput, food-safe operation, and support for ongoing demand growth.
