EasyArc™ Laser Welding Cart

The EasyArc Laser Cart pairs the ABB GoFa™ collaborative robot with the THEO MA1 ULTRA handheld laser welder to deliver:

  • Up to 5mm weld penetration
  • 100% duty cycle
  • Up to 10× faster welding than TIG
  • Minimal heat distortion
  • No post-weld grinding in many applications

No programming experience required.

Requires a laser-safe enclosure. Operators may remain in the room wearing appropriate laser safety PPE.

Laser Welding Configuration

Deeper Welds. Less Heat. Lower Costs.

Laser welding delivers deep, narrow welds with minimal heat input — resulting in a tiny heat-affected zone, virtually no distortion, and a clean bead that rarely needs post-weld grinding.

The EasyArc laser cart makes this precision process accessible to any operator. The same intuitive software that powers the MIG cart guides users through path teaching, material selection, and production launch — no laser optics knowledge or programming expertise required.

MWES stocks common components, making short lead times possible depending on configuration. Contact us to discuss availability for your specific requirements.

WHY LASER WELDING?

Up to 10× Faster Than TIG.

Laser welding isn’t just more precise — it’s dramatically faster and more efficient than conventional TIG and MIG arc welding processes.

CONVENTIONAL TIG WELDING EASYARC™ LASER (THEO MA1 ULTRA)
Slow travel speeds, especially on thicker materials Up to 10× faster travel speeds than TIG
Significant thermal distortion on thinner gauges Minimal heat input — very low thermal distortion
Wide heat-affected zone requires careful fixturing Narrow heat-affected zone, precise energy delivery
Post-weld grinding and finishing often required No post-weld process — clean welds off the cart
High skill level required for consistent quality Any operator can run it with ~2 hours of training
Weeks of operator training required Full production in ~2 hours of operator training
External water chiller required for duty cycle work Air cooled — no external chiller needed
High energy consumption vs. laser Up to 80% less energy than conventional arc welding

Laser Parameter Setup

Smart Parameter Selection

Laser welding parameters are critical to weld quality — and EasyArc takes the guesswork out. Select your material and thickness, and the system loads proven laser welding parameters automatically. Fine-tune as needed directly from the interface.

Parameter How EasyArc Handles It
Material Stainless, carbon, galvanized, aluminum
Thickness / Gauge Select from predefined ranges
Weld Joint Type Butt, lap, fillet, edge
Laser Power Auto-configured; manually adjustable
Wobble Setting 0–4mm, configured per application
Beam Tracking Enabled / disabled per program step

EasyArc Software

Expert Precision, No Coding Required.

EasyArc software removes the traditional complexity barrier from welding. Operators teach weld paths by physically guiding the robot arm — no laser optics knowledge or specialized training required.

  • Guide the robot arm to each weld position — positions recorded automatically
  • Select weld type from the comprehensive command library
  • Choose material and thickness for automatic laser parameter setup
  • Seam tracking follows the weld joint precisely even with part variation
  • Part searching compensates for positional offset at the start of each cycle
  • Save programs for instant recall and repeat production
