Inventory Assistant/Expediter

Summary

Under the direction of the Production Planner/Inventory Control Specialist, the Inventory Assistant/Expediter works to maintain the inventory cage and ensures that inventory is being processed according to company procedures. As the Expediter, you will work with both the Purchasing and Project Management staff to track and expedite purchase orders. This position will also provide assistance to the production planner as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Organize BOM components upon receipt and “kit” parts into specified location. Manage and maintain project drawings and work orders

  • Build job carts by providing labeling for mechanical and electrical components

  • Manage inventory materials and components released to jobs (stock, job inventory)

  • Manage return of unused parts back into stock or Job Inventory

  • Expedite purchase orders for commercial mechanical and electrical purchased components, update purchase order dates and notes. Advise buyer of any discrepancies for further review

  • Follow-up and expedite purchase orders VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), entering data into the ERP system

  • Work with purchasing, engineering and manufacturing departments to meet customer requirements.

  • Maintain high level of quality customer service, follow-up on inquiries, maintain correspondence - status, confirmations, delays, etc.

  • Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.

  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree (AA) or three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have a working knowledge of inventory control and materials management.

  • Must be able to read and understand CAD drawings/blueprints

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to learn, use and navigate an ERP system.

 

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write correspondences and routine reports. Ability to effectively communicate and present information one on one and in group situations to customers, clients, vendors and other employees within the organization.


Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Skills

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

Technology Skills

  • Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, photocopier, etc.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook

  • Exposure to a variety of engineering software including Solidworks and AutoCAD

  • ERP/MRP (Jobscope preferred but not required)
